About Athboy Family Practice
Athboy Family Practice is a GP surgery located in Athboy, Co Meath. The surgery serves Athboy and also Ballivor, Kildalkey and the surrounding areas.
The practice first opened 2005 in a much smaller premises on the Main Street in Athboy until relocating in 2022 to Athboy Medical Centre.
The building in which we now reside was once the famous ‘McElhinney’s of Athboy’, a ladies’ clothes store started by Molly McElhinney in 1937
The building was bought by Padraic Staunton who had a vision of creating something to benefit the community of Athboy and opened its doors in 2022 as a Medical Centre. The Medical Centre is also home to an Opticians, a Dentist, a Physiotherapist and the Muiriosa Foundation.
Athboy Family Practice has become a training practice for new GPs as well as medical students. Every year in July, we will welcome a different fully qualified, competent doctor who is completing their specialist training in General Practice.
During their 12 months with us, with your help, we ensure they receive further high-quality additional training in our Speciality.
Dr Valerie Cronin and Dr Anthony Ryan are GP Trainers/Supervisors, and the whole team play their part in contributing to this role.
You can book in with our GP Registrar on most days of the week and may experience occasional joint consultations as part of their ongoing training.
Thank you for playing your part in ensuring that the next generation of GPs will be able to care for you and your families in the years to come
